The Pashall candle is a large white candle used in Western Christian liturgy. A new Paschal candle is blessed and lit each Easter and used throughout the Paschal season during Easter and then on special occasions (such as baptisms and funerals) throughout the year. In the Orthodox Church, the equivalent of the Paschal candle is the Paschal trikirion, which differs in style and usage.
